New Format and Clues for Clark Point Light Letterbox

Letterbox Name:  Clarks Point Light

Location: Fort Taber, Entrance to New Bedford Harbor and Acushnet River, New Bedford, Bristol County, Massachusetts

Accessibility: The lighthouse is not open to the public, although there are plans to open it in the future. The grounds around Fort Taber are open as a public park.

Difficulty:  Easy, this is a drive by box.

Driving Directions:

Take US Route 6 to the Kennedy Memorial Highway in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

South on the Kennedy Memorial Highway for 1.1 miles.

West on Potomska for 0.1 miles.

South on 1 st Street for 0.5 Miles.

East on Cove Street for 0.4 miles.

South on East Rodney French Boulevard to Fort Tabor Park.

 

Letterbox Clues:

Climb to the top of the high sea wall on the east side of the fort. Walk along the sea wall to the northern most point. From this spot, Clarks Point Light will be on a heading of 40O, Butler Flats Light on a heading of 280O, and a pair of east facing benches on a heading of 130O. The Clarks Point Light Letterbox lies below your feet under a tumble of gray, white and brown stones.
